REPORT: EE MUSIC Launch Bari, Italy, 30 October 2014

The EE MUSIC Launch for the Mediterranean Region took place at the 4th Innovation Music Expo MEDIMEX and was organized by Projects in Motion from Malta. The Launch event was led by Alison Tickell, founder of Julie's Bicycle, UK.

At the end of October 2014, Projects in Motion in collaboration with the Italian EE MUSIC Ambassador Christina Fina from Pugliasounds organized the EE MUSIC launch at the 4th Innovation Music Expo MEDIMEX in Bari, Italy. The launch marked the official start of the EE MUSIC project in the Mediterranean region and the MEDIMEX was chosen because of its strategic location and outreach to numerous national and regional stakeholders from the music and event industry. The launch event was greatly supported by Alison Tickell from Julie’s Bicycle sharing practical examples of greening the Music Industry in UK.

Participants werealso introduced to the best practice guidelines offered by EE MUSIC, and the EE MUSIC IG Tools which are a set of free and easy-to-use carbon and energy calculators for creative companies to measure energy consumption on an annual or per-activity basis.

It was noticed that sustainability in music end event production is not yet very high on the agenda of music event organisers in Italy. However, there was huge interest from among the participants and guests to learn more about this subject and interesting discussions evolved afterwards around specific measures to make festivals and clubs more energy efficient.

In addition to the presentations given at the launch event, a promotion booth was set-up for three full days to promote the EE MUSIC project among all visitors of the MEDIMEX Music Expo.
